PORT Macquarie will be inundated by grommets later this month when the 2014 NSW Junior State Surfing Titles rolls into town.
Almost 350 junior surfers from all over NSW will hit the wave-rich region when the event kicks off on July 21.
It runs until July 27.
The prestigious competition will determine the NSW team for the upcoming Australian Junior Surfing Titles in Yallingup, Western Australia, in December.
All qualifiers for the NSW Junior State Titles were determined by 10 individual regional titles, which took place up and down the NSW coastline earlier in the year.
The NSW Schools Titles will occupy the first two days on the event. This will be the fourth year Surfing NSW has incorporated the titles into the main event.
“Surfing NSW has had a great relationship with the Port Macquarie community in the past and we enjoyed five very successful years in the area with the Australian Surf Festival,” Surfing NSW chief executive officer Mark Windon said.
“In that time we had a great run of waves and we’re certainly looking forward to seeing some of NSW best junior surfers sampling the same conditions when the NSW State Junior Titles comes to town this month.”
The NSW State Junior Titles can run anywhere between North Haven and North Wall at Port Macquarie.
The Town Green Inn will be the official venue of the titles, hosting a variety of competitor nights, as well as the opening and closing ceremonies.
Surfing NSW will also host its free CPR and board rescue course, Surfers Rescue 24/7 for all interested competitors, their families and the local community.
